Frequently asked questions

What type of cremations take place at Green Pastures?
We do communal and individual cremations.
'Communal Cremation' - your pet is cremated along with other animals and the ashes are not returned to you. Your pet's ashes are not separated from the others.
'Individual Cremation' - your pet will be kept separate from other animals at all times during the cremation process. The ashes, will be kept separate and returned to you in the urn of your choice.

How Do I Know I'm Getting The Right Ashes Back?
Green Pastures encourages you to visit its premises if you are concerned about receiving the correct ashes, always ask where the cremation is handled and if you prefer, ask to speak with the crematory operator. You will be allowed to see the crematory if you choose. Some families choose to witness placement into the crematory.

Can I bury the ashes of my pet?
Yes you can bury them. We recommend a biodegradable box or casket if you want the ashes to biodegrade, or stone if you wish the ashes to remain dry so you can take them with you if you move house.

Am I able to bury the ashes of my pet at Green Pastures?

Yes, you are welcome to bury, or have buried your pets ashes at Green Pastures.

If my pet dies at home can I bring him/her to Green Pastures myself?
Yes, but please ring Green Pastures to advise them about what time you expect to arrive.

Is it possible to deliver my pet for cremation and collect him/her on the same day?
Yes this is possible. We make this service available particularly for pet owners who may have travelled some distance.

What happens if I am unable to bring my pet to Green Pastures?

We have a collection service, contact us and we will arrange a convenient time to collect your pet.

What happens if my pet is 'put to sleep' at the vet's?
We have arrangements in place with many local veterinary practices. You can also request our services from practices we do not already have contact with, they will then arrange with us to collect your pet and carry out your wishes as instructed.

My pet is elderly and I am considering pet cremation, am I able to visit Green Pastures?
Yes, you would be most welcome. Please contact us and we will arrange a time where we are able to show you our premises and explain all that is involved in providing your pet  with the care and dignity a loving friend deserves.

How much does your service cost?
The cost is dependant on whether you choose an individual or communal cremation, and on the size of your pet. Please contact us for more information. Details here
